Holiday Cheer - Cherry Christmas Cookies

Cherry Christmas Cookies

Make dough one day ahead—needs to be refrigerated overnight.

Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened
¾ cup brown sugar
½ tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
2 ½ cups flour
1 cup sliced almonds
½ cup red cherries, whole, drained
½ cup green cherries, whole, drained

Directions

Cream butter; add sugar and then vanilla, salt, and flour. Mix well. Add almonds and cherries. Spread dough onto counter and form into a roll. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven 375°. Slice roll into thin slices with sharp knife and bake on a greased baking sheet for 10 minutes.

Sounds similar to a fruit cake cookie recipe I had years ago.
