Today is my youngest daughter's birthday. She's now legal and can drink without worrying about getting into trouble for 'underage drinking.' LOL
I have two daughters, Tiffany and Holly. They are five years apart, which I think is too much time to wait between children, but that's how it worked out.
Tiffany arrived a month before we expected her, though we were pretty set with crib, diapers (cloth, btw...though disposables were known back then, I used the cloth at home for both girls), clothes, etc. It wasn't that she was early, it was that they had my due date off a month. Still, the doctor wasn't so sure about her being premature and he sent me from the little hospital outside Denver I as at to a big medical center downtown, in case she had breathing problems. It was the first time I ever rode in an ambulance. Quite uneventful ride, since I wasn't anywhere near delivering her. But she turned out to be a full-term, healthy baby with no need for neo-natal care.
Holly was one of those rare babies who arrived on her due date. In fact, I didn't go into labor until 12:30 AM, so she even waited for the the due date before starting the labor.
All in all, both my pregnancies and my births were uneventful and I enjoyed being pregnant.
I was lucky in that I was able to be in the birthing room for the arrival of my grandson, Ethan. That was a wonderful experience. His sister, Emma, and my first granddaughter was born in another state, so I wasn't able to see her come into the world. Their cousin arrived last year the day after Thanksgiving, which was good, because her mom would have been really upset if she'd missed her Thanksgiving dinner.
I wasn't able to see her born either, because mom had to have a c-section, because the labor wasn't moving along as it should have. But in spite of that, Lacey arrived healthy and happy.
So, today is a good day for me to reflect on my family, as my youngest reaches the age of majority and moves into 'adulthood.' (snicker, yeah right).

Hi Anna Kathryn,
I'd like to offer a BIG Happy Birthday to Holly...I'm sure this is a very exciting day for her ! I have a daughter who will be twenty this October, and she is counting down the days until her twenty-first birthday so she can go to the club and "party". So please send my birthday wishes to Holly for a wonderful and fun day !!
Happy Birthday Holly!
I have three children grown children. I understand your relief when they turn 21.
Thanks for the great contest.
Happy birthday Holly!
Happy Birthday, Holly! Isn't it funny that once you turn 21, alcohol isn't that cool to drink anymore! I have a few memories of that time. So long ago.....sigh
Wow, it is amazing how fast time flies, isn't it. My only is turning 6 next month and I can't believe where the time has gone. He was a month early too, but in perfect shape...I kind of wonder if my due date wasn't a little off either.
You wish your "baby" a happy birthday and enjoy a great day yourself!
A big Happy Birthday to Holly! Oh to be young again...tell her to enjoy it.

Happy Birthday Holly. My your day be all that you want it to be. I wish I could have had a child, but alas it wasn't in God's plan for us. So give your daughters an extra special hug from me if you will.
A very happy birthday to Holly! I hope she'll have a wonderful, memorable day. Can't we all still remember the same day when we became "adults"?
My sons are 5 1/2 years apart, and I worried about the age difference when they were younger. Now at ages 25 and 19, they are best friends! Happy birthday to your Holly. Turning 21 is a big deal.
Happy Birthday Holly
Anna Kathryn, I have been trying to post on Tarah's blog, but it won't let me. It keeps saying my session has timed out. Any idea what I am doing wrong? (sigh)
Happy Birthday, Holly.
A very happy birthday to Holly!! I remember how great turning 21 was! Sadly I didn't get to go party when I turned 21, but I made up for it last year when I turned 25!! Yeah that was my first and LAST getting drunk moment!! lol
awww tell her happy birthday from me!! huge hugs!
Cheri, I don't know what the problem could be with Tarah's blog. Maybe she's being swamped with comments. I'll let her know you've had trouble.
Thanks everyone for Holly's birthday wishes. I'll pass them on to her.
Alas, I've been so busy with the grandkids, that I haven't even bought her a card, let alone anything else. But, we're having a big family 4th of July BBQ, so we'll celebrate then!
A.K.
Cheri, you're best bet is to go to Tarah's website and e-mail her from there (cause I don't have her e-mail addy).

Holly doesn't have a blog, but I made sure she rea ya'lls comments. And she said to tell you thank you. She is out tonight, having her first legal drink, but since she has to work in the morning and drive home tonight, I know she'll be responsible.
Now, come Saturday, when her brother-in-law will be driving...that'll be a different story.

Hi Anna. Woohoo I hope Holly has a happy & safe 21st birthday. :)
Oh wow, 21! I can wait for that! I have one graduating next year at 18 and that scares me to death! Happy B day to your daughter! (and really, happy birthday to you Melinda, you did some work that day! I never understood why the one being birthed gets all the accolades that day, the birthie should get some presents too!)
Woohoo, Holly! Hope you're feeling better. Skhye
Happy Birthday Holly!
