A Different kind of Cole Slaw

Cole Slaw

1 16oz package prepared cole slaw mix
1 cup roasted almond slivers (just barely toast them in oven for 2 mins - careful, they will burn)
1 cup shelled sunflower seeds
2 bunches chopped green onions
2 packages crushed Ramen Noodles (throw out the seasoning packages)

Mix all of the above together in large bowl

Dressing:

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

Bring to a boil in a medium saucepan for 10 minutes. Set aside until cooled. Pour over cole slaw.

The longer this sets, before serving, the better. So it can be made the night before.

Thanks to Dawn Temple for sharing this recipe with me and the others in our RWA chapter.

This is an interesting cole slaw recipe. I saw a couple of days ago a calorie guru using mayo and then taking the whole mixture to the sink, and draining out all the mayo. The calories were gone, but the taste remained! Hmmmm...just gets you thinking.
