Wednesday's Chow - Bar-b- Que Spareribs

Well, the Super Bowl is just around the corner....and for the record, I'm rooting for the Saints! It's been a long time coming and I hope they can pull it off....I thought I'd post an appetizer that would be great for a Super Bowl party....though they'd be good for any party, I think.

Which ever team you're rooting for, or even if you couldn't care less, I hope everyone has a wonderful Super Bowl Weekend!

Bar-b-Que Spareribs

Ingredients

1 ½ lbs spareribs
1-10 oz jar plum jelly
1/3 cup soy sauce
¼ cup dark corn syrup
3 tbsp minced onion
2 tsp ground ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced

Directions

Instruct butcher to cut rib section lengthwise into 2 to 2 ½ inch long pieces. Place ribs in a marinating pan.

Combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour over ribs and chill for 2 hours. Place ribs in a greased 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake, uncovered at 375° for one hour.

Who are you rooting for? Or do you even care? Leave a comment to be eligible for my monthly drawing (see right for prize).

I'm rooting for the spareribs. Frankly, football is highly overrated, and it maddens me that one player makes more in a game than a Policeman or Fireman does in years of serving the public. Yeah, I know...sour grapes. But I can think of something so much more exciting to get behind. *lol* Like promoting a great author. :)

I agree with you on the salary point, Ginger. I lost respect for a local baseball player, when he left the home team (he graduated from a local high school) to go play for one across country because they offered him $3 million more than the tens of millions the local team was offering. I just thought, okay, now we know what matters to you more....money. Not that money doesn't matter to me, but really, he would make millions either way!

But I do like to watch the game....on TV. I doubt I'd ever pay for the cost of the tickets....it's way too expensive.

This receipe sounds great. BBQ ribs are my favorite!

I'll root for the Saints in the big game, because there isn't a Texas team in it and the Saints are my son-in-law's "go to guys".
