Today, I have a guest blogger, Diliah Marvelle, who will talk about NAUGHTY HISTORY....something she's researched in depth for her two books. Oh, and she's asked for your opinion on the subject of schools for love and seduction education, so be sure and leave a comment. Delilah will give away TWO copies of Lord of Pleasure to some lucky commenters......Anna Kathryn
I've always had a genuine interest in not just writing, but history. In particular, NAUGHTY history. Being first generation Polish and having been raised by a traditional European father who would rather gouge his eyes out than talk about sex, I have to say all things naughty naturally seemed exciting and forbidden. Which is why I was ultimately drawn to write about it. What sort of naughty history am I talking about? The sort that led to my series about a school in 1830 London England that educates men on the topic of love and seduction. Many will say that such a thing could have never existed. To those I say, you'd better brush up on your history. Enter Ninon de L'Enclos. A 17th century French courtesan who was renown for hosting "meetings in a classroom type setting" in her bedchamber with aristocratic men to conduct discussions on the topic of love, seduction, philosophy, and sex. Ninon understood something that many courtesans did of her day. That men had no form of "open discussion" with regard to sex with women. And that if given the chance, they'd flock to her. Which they did. She was brilliant. And apparently, the men who flocked to her thought so too. That said, I turned Ninon's little bit of history into an actual classroom setting trying to imagine what such a school for men would really be like in the time period I write in and what sort of men would show up. The result was MISTRESS OF PLEASURE (released September 2008) and LORD OF PLEASURE (to be released August 4, 2009).
That said, I turn this over to you, dear reader. If you could get your man to enroll in a school that would educate him on the topic of love and seduction, would you do it? And if so, why? I'll toss my garter in first. Yes, I would TOTALLY enroll my husband. Why? Because as amazing as he is during the day, I'm sorry but he needs to be reminded what is expected of him at night, especially after 15 years of marriage. The same old position simply won't do for this girl. (He'd kill me if he saw me post this, LOL) Oh. And by the by, if you're curious about naughty history (and I know you are!!) be sure to check out my blog, A BIT O'MUSLIN at http://www.delilahmarvelle.blogspot.com/.

Welcome, Dililah. Great post. I think we like to think of our ancestors as sexless....but hey, I don't think we've invented anything new in the last...oh, 10,000 years!
And yes, I'd send my husband. I love the guy, but really, he needs to learn some moves, not new moves...moves period....lol. However, after 22 years of marriage, I've learned to enjoy what I get!
A.K.
Delilah, I am so with you about enrolling my husband in the school as well. He could use a refresher course, most especially on the romance aspect of relationships. I can remember the first year of marriage when he brought home flowers monthly and I would love it if he would do that once in awhile. It's been many many months since he has brought home any flowers. Even a single carnation would be welcome.
Congrats on the recent release, Diliah! Somehow I haven't made it to the bookstore yet this month. Otherwise I would have picked up a copy. Mistress of Pleasure was great! I love naughty history...have all kinds of books on naughty history. Keep 'em coming!
Oh...I happen to be one of the lucky few with a husband that knows all about love and seduction. That man can start a fire with a look and make me melt with a smile.
I'd send my husband, but since I'm male and have an ex, soon to be again, wife, I don't really qualify. I should have gone years ago but in the intervening years have learned much. However, there are too many alpha males out there that think they know what a woman needs but don't really have a clue.
Good post.
Great post. I definitely would enroll my husband. He was married for seventeen years before I got him and I don't think he and his wife ever made love...they mated! At first, teaching him was fun because he was like a kid in a candy store, but after thirteen years, I'd like him to surprise me! I'm not as sexual as I used to be, and I think boredom sometimes contributes to the problem. Hey...it's Saturday, let's have sex. Same time, same bed, same position, same man. No wonder we read and write romance. *lol*

Ooh Delilah, you are naughty, but I like it. I'd certianly send my hubby along too.
Cheers

Well, I certainly never have thought about enrolling my husband in such a school, or even that one "is" available! My guy is pretty romantic, and I think perhaps, if there were a ladies school, that's what I'd do!!!!
Hi Dililah, what a great post! I had never thought about sending a man to this type of class, but I think a lot of them need it. I know my does. They all seem to get want to do the same thing all the time with no change, so we all need something to spice up our lives.
Hello, Delilah,
I wasn't previously familiar with your work, but I mentioned "Lord of Pleasure" in my newsletter for the Erotica Readers and Writers Association a few days ago. (See http://erotica-readers.blogspot.com/?zx=589f8fa2ea4aedb7.) The title and the plot synopsis appealed to me. So I'd love to win a copy [grin].
As for my husband - he could teach in your school! I've never met a man who loves and appreciates women the way he does. Not just as sexual creatures but as individuals. And that is the key, in my opinion, to continuing satisfaction in the bedroom.
Warmly,
Lisabet
